Western Food with A Japanese twist
I haven't put my finger on it yet, but there is something that really draws me to this restaurant. Maybe its the delicious food, the changing menu, or the friendly staff, or the view of the old town from the bay window. Probably a combination of them all.
To get the negatives out of the way; this restaurant is not suited to people with lesser mobility or in wheelchairs as there is only a steep staircase leading to the restaurant on the 2nd floor. The shops above and below the restaurant are part of the same family. The lady who runs the charcoal shop on the 1st floor speaks excellent English. She lived in Scotland for a few years and that is why she called the top floor shop Nora. One of its big positives is that it changes the lunch menu regularly. What they do is they have a principle food for each day of the week; one day is pizza, another pasta, another sandwiches etc, but they change the flavour week on week. You can pick up a menu of the coming week's main dishes from the front door. The dinner is a fixed menu and they have some sides that are constant too. One of the nice little things they do is give a complementary slice of cake to any diners who are celebrating their birthday.
Lunch starts at 11 am and last order is 3 pm, but they don't rush you out. They open between 5 pm and 10 pm for dinner. The restaurant is closed on Mondays. They don't have parking available during the day, but they have parking available at night or on public holidays. The nearest station is Hon-Kawagoe, its about a 10 minute walk away or you can get one of the many buses that go to the tourist strip.
