Uonuma Koji Salon

Interesting insight into koji

My family visited the Uonuma Koji Salon recently. This is a fairly new addition to our town, and has a showroom where you can purchase koji related products, locally made wares (ie. sake cups) or enjoy a coffee, koji gelato or ice cream in the cafe area. The building itself is gorgeous. When it was first constructed we thought it'd be an eyesore in the local community but it has lovely large windows and offers a great view of the surrounding region. The venue also offers factory tours so that you can understand more about the koji production process. Even if you just pop into the showroom area, it's still an interesting day out. Most of the exhibits had both English and Japanese panels, so even if you don't read Japanese you'll still be able to get the gist of things.
