Fancy but small 100 yen store in central Kyoto

It would be tempting to say that some of these new and shiny Daiso have gotten ideas above their station as they try to put on an appearance of being something other than a 100 yen store. However, they still charge the same 108 yen (with tax) that is the remit of 100 yen stores across Japan so to this end all is well with this Daiso in central Kyoto. The 'life coordinate shop' is certainly well coordinated in interior design. It's bright, shiny, a little bit pink, and does a pretty good job at sprucing up the image of the typical 100 yen store in Japan. All the sections are here at this Daiso in Kyoto - kitchen, laundry, travel, grocery, stationary, lifestyle and probably one or two more that we failed to jot down. Space between aisles is wide enough, and the shop isn't so large to make it frustrating to find what you need. In fact, this branch of Daiso is more for your 'daily' shop when you realise that you've something missing, rather than a kind of bulk buying type of 100 yen store. In terms of product, there's little to distinguish it from any other store of its kind in Japan and at the end of the day, everything here is 108 yen so you're ultimately going to get what you pay for. This Kyoto Daiso is located on the 7th floor of the Kawaramachi OPA department store. Hours: 11:00 - 21:00 Nearest Station: Kawaramachi (OPA and Daiso just a short stroll from the station - take Exit 4 and cross the street towards Mizuho Bank. Head north up Kawaramachi-dori, OPA is on your left).
