Pirate ship, spider web climbing and sports facilities

The pirate ship in Mihashi Comprehensive Park is a much loved feature of this decent park in the greater Omiya area. It is in the main playground, which also has lots of climbing frames including a spider web type frame. A lot of the equipment in this playground is aimed at older children, but there is also a smaller playground not so far away that is suited to small children. The park also boasts and indoor community pool which has other sports and fitness equipment as well as some meeting rooms. There is an information point in the centre where they have leaflets in Japanese about services and attractions in the general area. The park has a cycling and running track. There are tennis courts in the park too. There is a good shade in the park in the summer. There are quite a few open spaces as well as a wooded area where you can see many different types of insects in the summer. In the Autumn you can collect acorns in an area of the park. There are vending machines that sell drinks and there is a van that sells pot noodles. There are toilets beside the car park, the tennis court and in the sports facility opposite the swimming pool. The parking is free and the car park is a decent size. The park is conveniently located close to main route number 17. It is accessible from Tokyo by the Shuto Expressway (Omiya route). It is 10 minutes from the Yono exit of that expressway. It is located at the intersection of route 17 and route 2. The nearest station is Nishi-omiya on the Kawagoe line, but it is about a 30 minute walk from that station.
