Ideal for a half day out with small children
Price: 0 yen
Kitamoto Children's Park is one of my favourite places to bring small kids, because they really enjoy all it has to offer. It is particularly well maintained with a facilities building on site and daily presence of park maintenance staff.
There is a small indoor playroom near the car park which is useful on rainy or very hot days. They have a playground with equipment for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. The equipment includes climbing and slides as well as aural audio activities. There is also a playground for older children. Two of the popular attractions of this park are the giant outdoor mountain trampoline and the 35 metre roller slide. In the summer the water play area with wading river and splash pool is a great way to cool down, although there is no shade over the water but there is shade nearby for setting up picnic mats. Other equipment includes a range of climbing walls for kids and swings. There is an outdoor theatre where they sometimes hold events. There is even a small zoo; two areas with animals including peacocks and monkeys. Finally, there are hiking trails that lead out of the park into a nature reserve. Apart from all that they have practical facilities including a family toilet which has a regular toilet, a child's toilet, a nappy changing mat and a pull out standing changing mat for changing clothes.
There is a bus that goes to the park, but it is infrequent. By car it is only 70 minutes from Tokyo . From the Ken-O expressway it is approximately 15 minutes from the Okegawa – Kitamoto Interchange. The parking of the park and the facility management building are open from 9 am to 5.30 pm, but you can enter the park itself at anytime. The park and the parking are free.
