Quirky and unique eatery near Hase Station + Big Buddha

The uniqueness and fun factor of this eatery close to Hase station coupled with the family focus affords it five out of five stars. However, this is not really a place for a foodie, unless you are an ice-cream foodie! The food is average and the service is on the slow side, but that is mostly due to the laid back atmosphere of the restaurant rather than incompetence. This was a great place to bring my two youngest children on our recent visit to the excellent WeBase Hostel in the Yuigahama area of Kamakura (please see the blog posts on City-Cost about this superior hostel). You can sit outdoors or in. If you opt for the latter the tables are in booths like little rooms and each is slightly different. There is a big sea theme going on and most of the rooms have fish tanks in them. The outdoor seating is also surrounded by fish tanks! There is a kappa shrine and a pet corner room within the mall, right beside the eating area. The kids loved looking through the windows at the pets such as rabbits, a turtle and a lizard. There menu is really good for small children with lots for them to choose from. Photos of the dishes are displayed on huge banners making it easy for kids to pick out what they want. Their ice-cream menu is extensive too. Conveniently located less than a minute from Hase station on the way to the Big Buddha.
