Gotemba Kogen Beer Grand Table

Family friendly resaurant with craft beer

Parents can enjoy locally made beer, while the kids soak up the atmosphere and indulge in some decent grub in the wonderful resort of Tokinosumika, also known as Gotemba Kogen. The Tokinosumika resort has a huge range of activities and things to do and see. The restaurant is large and separated into two parts. The front area is my favourite, it has the feeling of a beer hall in Germany. They have a great drink menu and a fairly decent food menu too. The food is quite basic, all very complementary with beer. Most of it is European. The sizes are quite large, so I would suggest ordering for the group you have, rather than for an individual. Their pizzas in particular are quite large, two did our family of six as we had ordered other food as well. They often have a band playing, that sing in both Japanese and English. The last time we visited, it was my son's birthday. We had ordered a cake in advance and when they brought it out, the band and the 200 odd diners all sang happy birthday to him. It was a lovely touch. They have high chairs for small children and they give you small bowls and children's cutlery for the kids to take some of the shared food in the centre of the table. During the summer it opens from 11 am to 3 pm for lunch and 5 pm to 10 pm (last order 9 pm) for dinner on weekdays. On Saturday, Sundays and the week of Obon they open from 11 am to 10 pm. From September the hours will change. Public transport is a bit tricky, but you can get a taxi from JR Gotemba Line Iwanami station. It takes about 5 minutes. By car it is only 5 minutes from Tomei Expressway Susuno Interchange. There is plenty of parking and it is free.
