Second-Hand Winning: Books, DVDs, Instruments, and More!

The Book Off at Sakurano Department Store in Sendai sits just across from Sendai Station, making it the most convenient second-hand store for the thrift shopper who utilizes train travel. This mega-store takes up the bulk of the sixth and seventh floors. The Book Off section on the sixth floor is made up exclusively of clothing and accessories but the seventh floor holds a number of other goods. A small array of electronics are available near the entrance from restaurant side of the seventh floor, followed by DVDs and games for a multitude of platforms. On the other side of the aisle, CDs, musical instruments and equipment. Soon these give way to a slew of action figured and other goods from numerous series, including lots of anime, sci-fi, and more. The more expensive goods are held in glass cases closer to the check-out counter. This section is separated from the manga and book section by a small metal-detector-style anti-theft device, so if you're buying anything from this side, do it before you go to look at books and manga or pick it up afterward. In the next section, the entire massive left side is taken up by near-perfect condition but utterly cheap manga. In the back there are also magazines organized into shelves. On the right, you'll find novels by the score, but all of these things are so far exclusively in Japanese. A little further on, on the right, there is a small shelved island full of foreign language books, 98% of which are in English. On the island, you'll find novels in paperback and hardcover as well as translated manga, travel books, and various popular fiction. Behind the island stands a wall complete with more special selections including art books, kids books, and more. If you don't see something you like on the shelves, check the bin under each shelf section and you'll find more options that didn't make it to the shelf yet, all priced to sell. If you're looking for cheap second-hand books (even in English), CDs, DVDs, instruments, or collectibles near Sendai Station, you'll find all that and more at Book Off Super Bazaar on the seventh floor of the Sakurano Department Store.
