WeBase KAMAKURA

Introduction

“An accommodation experience to shape your future.”

Discover amazing Kamakura, Japan from a modern and vibrant hostel just a short walk from the beach. WeBase Kamakura is a hostel built on the foundations of community where guests from around the world can meet local travellers, share stories and experiences, and settle into a comfortable base from which to explore the area and sample Japanese culture. Regularly held events, the knowledge of friendly staff, and easy access to Kamakura attractions and the cities of Yokohama and Tokyo mean there’s plenty to keep the traveller staying at WeBase busy. Or, of course, you could just kick back and relax on the beach. It’s right there!

Features

Forget whatever image you might have had about the term “hostel”.  WeBase Kamakura sets a new standard but at the same kind of budget friendly prices. Rooms here range from 4-bed mixed dorms and female only dorms through to “capsule” style beds, private doubles, family rooms and rooms for larger groups. Whichever you choose, it’s hard to put into words just how clean, cool and comfortable they are. The people at WeBase seem to have considered all the details right down to the natural DHC toiletries.

Easy access to Shonan surf breaks and beach scene, storage for your boards, and beach lockers. Yoga classes in a modern studio or yoga classes on the beach. Don’t fancy walking to Kamakura’s shrines and temples (although they’re only a few minutes away)? Rent a bike from the hostel instead. On the other hand, lace up your boots and head out to the region’s many hiking trails in the hills that overlook the coast. All of this and more makes WeBase a fantastic center of operations for travellers who like to stay active.

Don’t forget to check out the cultural events that are hosted at WeBase. Here is the traveller’s chance to learn about Japan from the locals and share the Japan experience with like minded souls. This could be through cooking parties, tea ceremony, creating your own art with “washi” (a traditional Japanese paper), even meditation at a nearby temple.

After an action packed day there can surely be no better (and no more Japanese) way to invigorate tired legs than with a soak in the tub. WeBase Kamakura has two (male / female) large Japanese style baths, that even come with step-by-step instructions on how to use them. Perfect for those tentative about plunging into their first Japan-style bathing experience!

Time to eat? Check out the on-site Brasserie Gent for French-casual dining and an amazing terrace, or explore the local streets and beach front road to make your own local dining discoveries.

Where WeBase Kamakura really comes into its own, though, is through a warm and fun sense of community, and a desire to send the traveller onto the next stage of their journey not just with great memories but with new friends from around the world, and a deeper understanding of Japan.

WeBase KAMAKURA is a 3-min walk from Yuigahama Station (Enoden Line) or a 15-min walk from JR Kamakura Station.
