Skincare for tweens?

I'm a big fan of Japanese skincare for myself, but my daughter is getting to the age where she will need skincare for herself -- and that's an area of expertise that I haven't yet delved into. I can do some independent research, of course, but if anyone has tween-aged kids and has any good skincare recommendations for that age I'd be very grateful to hear them!

I don't have kids, but I often talk to my junior and senior high school students about their skin-care routines. A go-to for them and me, too, is "body sheets" that have hyaluronic acid. The "goo" is naturally found in skin, eyes, and joints. It's a great relief for dry skin and healing scrapes and acne aftermath. My "kids" apply these body sheets liberally after P.E. Some kids, like me, get relief from dry skin and eczema with this stuff.

@TonetoEdo good idea, I'm a fan of hyaluronic acid for my own skin so I'll look into those for my daughter. I'm guessing most things that aren't too chemical-based or stripping to the skin like retinol should be fine for her, but I definitely appreciate getting the inside scoop from your students!

@genkidesu When I'm back on campus and have some down time with "my kids" I'll ask them for advice! My kids have all kinds of skin, some of them half-Japanese, too, with a mix of skin care needs depending on their heredity and skin types.

In that age a good moisturizer and sun screen should be enough. Then you could add products for any skin issues your daughter might have. I like the brand aqualabel. Been using it since my tweens. It is a sub-brand of Shiseido but a lot cheaper than the actual Shiseido products.

@Eli I will have to check them out! Thank you for the suggestion!

Summer reading

I know there have been questions in the past about what we're watching, but I'm wondering what you're reading at the moment! I'm looking to get a few new books for summer and I'd love to hear if you have any recent recommendations. If you have any good spots here to get EN language books in person, too, I'd appreciate if you would share those as well!

Condiments in your fridge?

Just for fun! I was thinking the other day how different the contents of my fridge are to the fridge I grew up with! Just one example, I always have soy sauce in my fridge and usually at least one other unopened bottle in the cupboard. There was never soy sauce in my fridge growing up. And the friends I grew up with don't have soy sauce in their fridges even now. But my Uni friends all have soy sauce in their fridges, because they all lived in Japan for at least a year. I was just wondering what things do you have in your fridge here that you probably wouldn't have in your fridge in your home country had you never lived here.

Moving house process

I've been in my apartment for nearly 7 years. I've got my eye on an apartment one station closer to work. But I forgot what it was like to move in here! It was all a bit traumatic... Have you got some packing tips, suggestions for how to move your household goods, and what to save for last?
