Flowers to see in Tokai

With spring coming up, I am thinking about what flower gardens I want to go to this year. I wanted to know if you guys have any recommendations for some non typical flowers. I have already seen cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, and wisteria, so something other than that!

I love shibazakura, so this one looks amazing to me: https://www.aichi-now.jp/en/spots/detail/167/ I'd also love to check out all the tulips at Nabana no Sato in Mie one year. It looks so colorful!

Shizuoka Prefecture is noted for its flowers. Hamamatsu City has a flower park that has all the typical flowers you mention, plus fields of tulips. It looks awesome. https://www.inhamamatsu.com/activity/flower-park.php Shizuoka Pref. is also noted for roses which start blooming in May. http://shizuoka-guide.com/english//detail/page/detail/3769

I know it's totally not in Tokai, but Kobayashi's Ikoma Plateau features a vibrant sea of poppies in spring and millions of cosmos in fall. I go to see them every year because they're that beautiful! https://www.ana.co.jp/en/gb/japan-travel-planner/miyazaki/0000008.html

@genkidesu This year's poppy festival starts at 20. April. Hopefully the corona virus frenzy will have calmed down a little by then.

@Kobakko hoping so...I feel like a lot of March festivals have already been cancelled, so I am hoping the trend doesn't continue. I guess time will tell!

The Ichinomiya Flower Park is great. You gotta pay to get up the tower, but the park itself is free to enter!

Some of our spring flower festivals in Niigata are already being cancelled, and I imagine it's going to be the same in other parts of Japan. Was so excited for spring, and it's turning into a real doozy :(

Condiments in your fridge?

Just for fun! I was thinking the other day how different the contents of my fridge are to the fridge I grew up with! Just one example, I always have soy sauce in my fridge and usually at least one other unopened bottle in the cupboard. There was never soy sauce in my fridge growing up. And the friends I grew up with don't have soy sauce in their fridges even now. But my Uni friends all have soy sauce in their fridges, because they all lived in Japan for at least a year. I was just wondering what things do you have in your fridge here that you probably wouldn't have in your fridge in your home country had you never lived here.

Moving house process

I've been in my apartment for nearly 7 years. I've got my eye on an apartment one station closer to work. But I forgot what it was like to move in here! It was all a bit traumatic... Have you got some packing tips, suggestions for how to move your household goods, and what to save for last?

Golden Week 2025 plans?

This year's Golden Week gives us Tuesday, April 29th, and then potentially a four-day weekend from May 3rd to 6th. How are you intending to spend the break? Will you travel, "staycation", or dare I ask, work through it?
