Docomo data usage.

Does anyone know how bad it is when you seriously go over your data usage?

Make sure you disable the "Speed mode"(スピードモード) in your data plan! When your data usage is more than your data plan, you will enter slow mode, which is unlimited to use but limited to 128kbps speed. If you enable "Speed mode"(automatically add 1GB data package option non-stop) or manually buy an optional 1GB data package (1000 yen), you can use it at normal speed.

Once you go over your data plan, your speed will be limited to 128kbps(Maximum). The real world data usage will be more more like 56kbps, the speed will be like using a dial up modem you have 10 years ago. Take a minute or two to load one page, if you are visiting a webpage that have a lot of images then it may take even longer.

    Do they charge you extra?

You can pay for extra data speed. That's why it's always a good idea to look out for the "docomo wifi" sticker outside shops and restaurants so you can leech on their wifi rather than draining out your data.

I guess I should have clarified. Should I expect an insane phone bill?

Oh my gosh... my next bill might be scary...I don't even know how to change the speed. Thank you so much for your help!

I suggest to request for a limit on your data plan. And once you reached your limit you can still access you internet but if you need more data you can just purchase it online.

Best sakura snacks this season?

As an avid snacker and convenience store aficionado, I had my first sakura mochi of the year recently! It got me wondering though, what sakura-flavored/themed snacks have you seen this year, and are there any you've already tried and enjoyed so far? Let me know in the comments if there are any you've already tried or got your eye on trying!

What sakura apps / websites are you using in 2024?

What websites or Apps are you using to keep track of the bloom stages of cherry blossoms in 2024? I usually use a mix of Tenki.jp, Yahoo and Jorudan and another one that I have forgotten! (I delete them at the end of each season to free up space on my phone). I occasionally use the app from JMA, but I don't like its set up. Are there any other Apps or websites you recommend? TIA

What's in your toshikoshi soba?

What do you put in your toshikoshi soba? One year I sauteed some chicken and naganegi to start a broth augmented with tsuyu, cooked the soba separately, and served the broth with kamaboko slices.

Transferring Pension

I'm currently sorting through EVERYTHING I bought back from Japan with me, so you'll get all your new blogs soon. I came across some documents that I actually completed when I came back from Japan, which was to do with pensions. This took me a while to figure out because it was complicated. Would you like to know how to transfer your pension to you from Japan? People say you can't. The things is... you can.
