大阪府特别的地方在于她所然是个县市， 但是却以府为称。大阪已经全面城市化， 人口约八百八十六万人， 是日本第三大的城市。大阪市处在大阪－神户－京都大都市区的中心， 人口约两百二十万人， 是关西主要的经济动脉。虽然和东京有很多相似的地方， 但大阪却是个比较让人放松的地方。大阪府也住了很多外国人， 至今统计有十万个外籍人士, 多数是韩国和中国人。 大阪有很多出名的美食， 当先的当然是章鱼烧和大阪烧。
