冲绳县是日本最南端的县市，是琉球岛屿的三分之二。几乎所有的冲绳人民都居住在冲绳的八大岛上， 以冲绳岛为最大。县首都是那霸市，市人口约三十二万一千人， 是冲绳县人口最多的城市。由于冲绳县属于热带气候，拥有各式的度假村，适合不同的预算， 所以非常受游客的欢迎。冲绳县的文化和传统非常特别，被中国文化和传统影响， 所以跟日本本身有很多的区别。冲绳岛有个很大的美国军事基地，中共占了冲绳岛百分之二十的土地。
