The description
This product is a strawberry cheesecake, and it's a limited time offering available from Starbucks stores across Japan. It was priced at 580 yen including tax.
The good
One thing I've really grown to appreciate about living in Japan is the focus on seasonality when it comes to foods. Not just fresh fruit and veg, either, but all the seasonal treats that pop up at cafes, supermarkets, and convenience stores that feel like an appropriate fit for the time of year. This strawberry cheesecake from Starbucks is a limited time offering, and the base of the cheesecake itself is strawberry flavored, and it's topped with a strawberry whipped cream and strawberry sauce. I love that they really jam-packed the strawberry flavor into this cheesecake in various ways, and it's a very fresh-feeling, sweet-yet-slightly-sour dessert.
The not so good
At 580 yen this is probably a touch more expensive than if I purchased a cake slice from one of my local independent bakeries. Something to keep in mind if you're trying to support small businesses over a large international chain like Starbucks. Also, if you find yourself really enjoying this, it's only going to be stocked at their stores for a limited time. I'd recommend popping in sooner rather than later if it sounds like a must-try item for you. Overall, even despite the price I would say it's worth trying out at least once if you're a fan of all things strawberry-flavored. Happy eating, and enjoy! :)
