My favorite diy potato chip flavor
At convenience stores in Japan, you can find all manner of novelty flavored snacks, regional and seasonal treats.
But tonight, it’s gloomy - humid, hot and I’m suffering from lack of appetite. I just want an afternoon snack that’s tasty and light to get me to dinner time, and I don’t want anything novel.
The chip selection at 7-11 saves me with lightly salted potato chips.
And then I add my secret pick-me-up- yuzu kosho.

This amazing fermented condiment of yuzu citrus peel, chili peppers, and salt is usually added to soups and stews, but I like it as a seasoning for everything from pasta to yakitori. And it’s a zippy flavor that goes with potato chips. The salt restores electrolyte balance and spicy flavor wakes up appetite.
