My colleague and friend, Kimberly is a powerhouse who has overcome personal loss by focusing on promoting what is healthy, sustainable, and compassionate. She spearheads projects to bring to Japanese and non-Japanese healthful choices for mind and body. You can read about her Mindful Michi here.

On Saturday, August 31st, she and her team present Inspire: Inspiring a World of Change Through Art. Showcasing the works of global artists, the two-part event includes everybody by providing a workshop in English for families to introduce crafts, and then a swanky dress up evening with vegan and non alcohol offerings.

Inspire will give all proceeds to two projects that support underprivileged children in Japan - Mirai no Mori which hosts outdoor adventures for kids in state care, and Kodomo Ouen Network Saitama, which aims to support impoverished children in the prefecture.

I had the good fortune to work with Mirai no Mori’s summer camp one year, and I learned that kids in state care may be orphaned, rescued from abusive parents, or simply given up due to family hardship. The kids have few prospects for education and careers. But they are so eager to make their ways in life.

Inspire is a chance to make friends, enjoy some art, entertain your own kids, and dress up for an evening while contributing to the wellbeing of Japanese kids with bright futures.
