TOKYO - A major biannual fashion event to showcase the latest designs for the 2018 autumn and winter seasons started Monday in Tokyo, with about 60 global brands joining the collection.
Freiknock, a unisex casual brand launched in 2016 by South Korean designer You Joo Hyung, marked the start of the show in the Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo, which will run through Saturday.
Fashion Week is held in cities across the world and the one in Tokyo has become an opportunity to promote Asian fashion brands in recent years.
The latest festival, held at venues including the Shibuya Hikarie commercial complex in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward, has also been joined by designers from Indonesia.
Special programs will be held to feature collections from "mame" by Maiko Kurogouchi and three other popular brands.
According to the organizer, the Fashion Weeks held in Paris, Milan, London, New York and Tokyo are the most well-known and have the great influence in the fashion world.
The Japan unit of Amazon.com Inc. sponsors Fashion Week in Tokyo.
